Hydraulic for rear load and braking

Post by EvaInNorfolk on Mon Dec 10, 2012 4:21 pm

Hi all. I'm in a real pickle. Van failed MOT on Saturday because the hydraulic bit that senses heavy loads so brakes work properly don't work!! They got back to me this afternoon (Monday) to say replacement part is £220 + VAT? Does that sound right? I don't have a lot of time to sort it out - and the garage knows this - as I'm off to Australia tomorrow. That trip was nearly cancelled as an uncle dropped dead yesterday morning which none of us expected. Sad I really don't know which way is up at the moment. Can anyone tell me if this price seems about right? If it seems completely wrong what should I tell the garage? I have until tomorrow morning (Tuesday) to sort this out then I'm off to Heathrow. Crying or Very sad

Hi stranger Very Happy
Sorry to hear your trouble.

It'll be about that, Daihatsu prices etc, do you need the van MOT'd before you go?They can sometimes be fixed. If you don't need it i'd leave it till you come back(unless yer staying Wink )

NOT STAYING!!!! I'm a rubbish Australian. Don't like it too hot, don't like too much sunshine, don't like the beach or surf, don't drink, don't do hoax telephone calls (I do have a naughty sense of humour - oops). Shocked

Thanks for your advice. Very much appreciated. I think I'll have to give them the go-ahead. They said they could do it while I'm away as the deadline to MOT date way too tight when I get back! I'm going to need van as soon as I'm back so I can visit what's left of my family in Yorkshire. Did you want me to bring you a boomerang back? I'll send one up to my brother in Glasgow and you can pick it up there

I've just realised that tomorrow it will be exactly a year since I bought the van and on Wednesday it will be a year since I joined the forum. Happy anniversary...

And too you too crim.

That rear brake load sensor is a funny one. They often fail on it.

If you adjust it right up, then put a load of weight in the back they often just pass Wink
