I skimmed about 0.4 mm of mine, the head gasket had gone when I bought it, and it was all pitted around the top of the cylinders where hot water had been eating away at it for some time, also near the water channels, had to take that much off to clean the face up to a decent standard with no prob's.

head skimming

Thats cool I only had ten thou off to clean up and the replacement head gaskets are thicker that they need to be. I've only done head skims in the past for tuning purposes and you have to measure all the clearences but I'm waiting on someone else to let me know if Daihatsu even tell the dealers.
