Engine fashing light codes

Post by neil54 on Fri May 03, 2013 10:14 pm

Hi All.
I tried to get the diagnostic code from my ECU today. I connected a wire from the brown wire to earth and switched on the ignition.
All I got was a constantly flashing light.
However, I did disconnect the plug from the ECU to correctly identify the brown wire. I assume I have disconnected power from the ECU and reset any codes or there is nothing wrong with my Hijet (yipee).
I will try again in a few days without disconnecting the plug and see if anything different happens.
Has anyone else seen this?

Many thanks in advance.

Constant flash = no codes

Was your engine warning light on while you drove it before?

No. Engine light not on although I had some running problems.
All is well at the moment.

Thank you for taking the time to respond.

Since I have owned my van, it would always stop running at a junction until it was fully warm. Only stop the once then be ok for the rest of the day. (it was as though the choke was being taken of too early. I know injection engines don't use choke.)
Recently this had become worse, stopping 4 or 5 times a day, then it became loss of power at low revs when accelerating.
Turned out the coil pack was tracking. A new set of plugs and a good clean sorted that out.
Still conks out once, first thing in the morning. I suspected a sensor may be failing and the ECU could tell me which one.
