Hijet checks - what do you do?

Post by Willst0ne on Mon May 13, 2013 9:14 pm

So, I bought this Hijet thinking it was over heating but it seems I was just being paranoid. However, I don't wont it to over heat. So, what sort of checks/services do people run to ensure your Hijet runs smoother than buttered butter?

Thanks leopard. I went through the buyers guide (after I bought the van!!!). I was thinking more of the sort of daily/weekly checks people carry out whilst owning the van to keep it running smooth

If I bought another hijet, the first things i'd do to it would be:-

Check all the hose clips especially the prone ones and replace some.
Put a new thermostat in it.
Put a new radiator cap on it and change/flush the coolant/wash out the header tank

Drop the oil and filter
Take the bottom plate off the sump and clean out all the scum
Put some clean oil in it and a new filter

Blow up tyres and replace if required

Blow out the air filter with compressed air

Change the oil in the diff

Check the front brake pads
