Woody's Chip Shop

Post by rich the mechanic on Thu Jun 13, 2013 9:22 pm

Woody these are the bits that I need to fix it is both sides of the van in the same place the footwell bits are the seam back so will need a couple of inches infront of that point to about half way up the the arch and the duct tape covers the rusty bit so they need to be fair size the rust is creeping towards the window but the bit that is under the window is still just jutting out.

Yes no problem Rich. Can do that for you so long as you don't need them yesterday. 9" Grinder should soon sort that out .
Will be stripping the SE first but if it would be better to have the parts in white although you are repainting then I will be gutting white one the week after and that is a van so You will have to trim the window seal flange down yourself on that.
Let me know your preference Rich.

My preference is 16oz T-Bone Steak chops with all the trimmings --- hence my website address hungry.horace -- given to me by my Grandma when I was about 8years old,  because of my huge appetite .

I have no preferance as I would spot drill out the spot welds so that edge would be under the window rubber and it'll be painted so no colour preferance but the wife is a blue throughout.

OK fine Rich, so obviously your outer panel is in good condition then. Did I understand from your previous post that in both cases you need both sides of each panel ?

Exterior on the rear is ok not great but not beyond repair and by both sides I mean near and off side of the van.

Right thanks for the clarification Rich. I will cut the rear sections inside and out so you can unpick if need be and I will cut them well up both pillars. Fronts same again-- cut them as large as possible for you. They will be from the white van not the SE. Have got different plans for that now.bounce bounce

Many thanks to Woody for sorting out some repair panels for me.
this and the other side for the base of the footwell

and these for repairing the inside under the windows as ours have vanished.

More pics to follow when prepped for welding, my mate has promised me his spot welder so I will have to offer to go and help retrive it from his shed me thinks.

Must admit I am well pleased with the service given by Interparcel and ludicrously reasonable rates for a 24 hour delivery service.

Will do Although might be a little light on the picture front as I tend to start off with good intentions of fully pictured progress then I get stuck in and end up with three or four pics of before, during and after.

Nice Job Rich. I couldnt see the pictures too clearly last night on my phone but now I am on my laptop and much clearer. I wouldnt have had the patience to do that and now being semi-blind in my left eye my welding aint so good only being able to focus with one eye.
Think I will change my name by deed poll to CYCLOPS.

That was the harder side to do as I'm right handed and there is only so long I can kneel on the corrugated floor and it was the wrong angles to sit in the back and do it left handed hopefully the other side will be easier having done one now.

I've never seen a hijet rot so badly there under the window.

Top job on the repair, that's some serious dedication to your Hijet.
