cardan /spider joints

Post by El_Ventu on Sun Jun 16, 2013 1:24 pm

My porter weared the spindle spiders of the cardan joints, since I bought him it take a bit of noise, but after last trips in Beseno Castle for the festival Sinergie Lagarine the problem has worsened.

I was told that they were sealed and not replaceable, and that all joints were replaced in their entirety (cutting the shaft, and welding new ones).
Bullshit.
Spindle spiders was replaceable at 100% -I do not know if the 4x4 has cardan joints different than the rear wheel drive- with the spiders of the front axle of the Hyundai Galloper, 27mm diameter x 62length.
The new ones also have grease nipples!

Were yours installed using these circlip:- ?

The rear wheel drive hijet has a different UJ retaining method. They have put the UJ in place, then kinked / deformed  / peened the metal over to retain the UJ instead of clips.

Yes, also the original has similar circlips (seeger), with same thickness but different shape, similar to those one.

Did you take a look to the rear differential?
Yours is a Carraro or not?
