Hijet and Euro 4

Post by heavyhorse on Sun Jun 16, 2013 3:32 pm

I have recently bought a Daihatsu Hijet 16v EFI LPG registered on 13/03/2003, the DVLA website say's any vehicle weighing less than 3.500kg registered between 01/03/2003 and 31/12/2009  road tax for year should be £140 when I got the tax from the post office I had to pay £220, so I went to the DVLA office and the lady said that was correct, but when I pointed out what the website said, she said she needed to talk to her manager, when she came the reply was that as the vehicle had not been registered as Euro 4 when first registered I had to pay £220 tax. Has any one else experienced this situation, is there a way around it? The lady gave me no advise.

You will have trouble as the Hijet is only Euro 3 compliant.

Maybe read through this lot as there is some good chatter about this subject http://hijet.findtalk.biz/t455-road-tax-on-your-hijet
