Yep that's what I said.
So you did sorry I was work and didn't get to read it fully and got a bit giddy about someone else doing a rev counter! Very thorough

Woah a 10k rpm counter, the hijet will use all of that for sure Laughing

I've just fitted mine in the same place as xxemaphorr.

Make it really easy just being able to plug it into the diagnostic connector.

Hard to get any pictures as my van is parked into the afternoon sun.

Well easy to install though, took about 20 minutes start to finish.

I cut a spare dashboard surround I had knocking about, and I cut it with a pneumatic die grinder.

Just out of interest what setting should I use on my multimeter to look for the tacho signal? I have a couple of conectors with nowt attached under the dash other than the diagnostic on and never found a voltage output from any no matter what I turn on or off just wondering if I should try a different setting, I have had a little look at the wiring diagram but not traced them there either.

Tacho signal will be a pulse, so you need a multimeter that does frequency and/or duty cycle. Normally measured in Hz

It's not the most common of features, unless you have a slightly more feature rich meter.

I cant remember if Hz is on there defo no duty cycle but I think the one at work has a few more fetures might need to borrow it.

On a 993cc you should just be able to connect it up to the coil.

The 1.3 vans have a pair of coils so it makes life a little more complex, but since the tacho out feed from the ecu has been discovered on the diagnostic connector it makes it a breeze.

But you have only got 3 pulses per two revolutions 4 per two revolutions
on a 13000. You can switch to 4,6 or8 on the tacho .Using it on 4 cylinder
it will read 25% slow and on 6 50% slow. Or am I missing something here?

Just looking at the pics of the install next to the clocks, WTF is that bit of the dash for anyway? Why does it have that useless wee cubby hole thing at the side of the speedo? I just never understood why the bit existed.

You need a rev counter that does three cylinder signals Wink

The mystery slot, the mystery being how would anything stay in there. I can imagine it was the same person came up with the coin holder by the hand brake ! I used it once , at the end of my journey I had to retrieve my change from both footwells and from under my seat! Fail.

Ha, I nearly mentioned the coin holder in the "mystery slot" post.

Bloody great interior design work in these vans.

A clock would have been nice.

Thank you HJ. That was my point that the revcounter is not usable for all who own 3 cylinder models. Its only useable on the 1300's.
