Little rear end modification, twin tails

Post by HighlyJetted on Thu Sep 12, 2013 12:14 am

Pictures speak a thousand words or so they say...

So you take your fog light and also get another to match

Drill out the rivets and unfold the lamp holder retainers

Get a pair of stop'n'tail light holders, Hijet ones are perfect but others might work too

Modify the bracket and trim back the lamp holder to fit together

Rivet it back together or bolt it whatever

Now solder/wire the new stop part of the bulb holder to the original fog light connector and plug it in,
And take a the side light feed from the new bulb holder up to the back of the light clusters and key in into the side light feed.

And tada....

Twin tail lights

And fog lights all in one unit

Nice one!

At some point I intend to flush fit twin fog lights - one in the reversing light position and a left one to match. Then fit twin reversing lights in-board of the fogs somewhere.

It may be a while though - got a lot of important stuff to do.....only had the old gal 6 days!

Where did you find 21/21w twin filiment bulbs? Fog and stop are the same rating.

I twin fogged years ago standard right hand one and added the left one when I got a unit given to me.

it is just visable at this angle.

I don't think they exist - HJ has 4 side lamps at the back now. Though you could parrallel the 21w filament in the fog lamps with the brake lights - then you'd get 4 brakes as well.

I still only have a pair of fogs at the bottom

A pair of brake lights at the top

and all 4 are tail lights

LEDs - good idea - I will look into that.

LEDs are easy to get from China - got quite a few but do seal them on installation with silicone -actually seal everything you do with silicone - I do.....never get a prob again......Smile

I use a lot of Vaseline as well for bolts etc - pipes - any unions everything. Cheap and VERY effective. It's not known as 'engineers' grease for no reason! Smile
