Romahome have ceased trading.

Post by Guest on Sun Oct 06, 2013 12:47 pm

I realize it isn't a Hi-Jet subject any more as the last Romahome on a
Hi-Jet was produced 10 years ago and I delivered it to Mitcham near
Croydon in London.
Five days ago they ceased trading with debts of £500,000.
Then amazingly the third reincarnation has risen  like a Phoenix from the
ashes four days later.
The final nail in the coffin was an EU Directive called "Electronic Stability
Programs" which blocked the company's ability to produce its current range of caravan conversion models.
Now with the new company they will only be able to produce a third of the now defunct range.
Any idea what ESP is about Matt??
Think they should have used ESP to see this happening.
Still this will probably put the value of Romahome up now.
I know a few of you out there have had and love them and I am down to three of them now. Blast !!!

Hello mate , the same sort of problem has just happened with the VW micro vans , they can no longer produce them due to the problem of meeting the regs for ABS and airbags . The ESP is a computerised management system for rectifying poor handling .

With all the crap we have to put up with to meet emission control and fancy management systems we will all need a degree in electronics soon . The other issue of these so called improvements means that thousands ,if not millions of vehicles will end up being scrapped because they cannot meet the new guidelines , so how is that environmentally friendly ? .

That doesn't make a lot of sense as most of the base vehicle's are Citroen. Perhaps its the extra weight/height that makes them unstable and thus need the ESP system.

Brian Bailey the manager has set up the company with two of his kids named as the two Directors.
Andy Jones the owner of Freeborn Group the Citeroen Dealership
owned Romahome anyway.
I hope they can make a go of it because they are a fantastic product.
