i broke my wrist!

Post by elfin girl on Mon Nov 18, 2013 5:41 am

so, i was having a lovely holiday in cornwall camping in the van with the dogs, untill that is i slipped and fell back on my arm and broke my wrist!
my cousins partner got a train down and drove me and the dogs back in my van so at least we all managed to get home
5 days later and i had to go shopping, was in iceland when a stupid fat bint barged past me in a small gap, catching my arm in her rucksack and dragging me with it... re breaking it for me, had it operated on on friday to reset and put wires in... the bastards gave me morphine even when id repeatedly told them i was allergic so i spent hours in agonising pain (worse than when i broke it!)
im now told im looking at 3 months before i can go back to work

so, anybody had any good holidays recently?!

Ouch and double-ouch! Sorry to hear that, hope it heals quickly. Still, could have been worse - I first read your post as:

when I saw the title - 'I broke my wrist' I must admit I rushed in to see the sexy pics that must have been the source of this mishap ....... unfortunately I was disappointed to hear it was down to a slip up and a larger than life woman.... not even any elaboration, some may see this as a good thing !!!

Hope all goes well and your wrist action is back on track soon pal.

I remember my Grandad telling me about breaking his handed wrist when young (something about a milk-float, probably horse-drawn) and he taught himself to write with his other hand which proved useful in later life following injuries, etc.

right wrist, im right handed! but so far theres not much i cant do, tie shoe laces being one!
the plaster is restricting movement considerably, cant touch my fingers with my thumb, cand only bend my elbow 90 degrees, cant bend my fingers at the knuckles (so cant punch any body but could give a back hander!)
makes the exercises im supposed to do impossible!
i have managed to half make some christmas cards without gluing them to me, and ive got a ciggarette roller i can use one handed! luckily the dogs are good on the lead so i can still walk all 4 to the park
still managing to get washing done but no hoovering! and no work which is a pain cos i like my job
and no, i certainly didnt expect sympathy! haha!

Crikey Daisy. Sound like a sketch out of Monty Python -- but no funny ending.

Really sorry to read of your suffering. Hope you can get back to work sooner than you have been told. I HATE not being able to work.

Well it saves buying a fishing rod Daisy with those hooks.
Dread to think the size of fish you would need to catch though.

I remember last time I had a cast a few years back, after a couple of weeks it was itching under there alot, so I kept sticking rulers and chop sticks down there to have a scratch. When I took the cast off my arm was covered in dead skin and smelt proper "fresh"!!

Yes I remember that disgusting sweaty rotting smell too.

I had a very serious case of scepticemia exactly a year ago and finally went to the Hospital with it on the 9th and they told me to expext amputation of my lower right leg it was so serious.

Me being the stubborn git that I am said I would rather go home and top myself than have my lower leg removed and insisted on Penicillin which I was given at double dose (500mg) for a month and was unable to work for ten weeks which is how I came to join the Forum on second of February.

On the 29th December the dressing was changed ( every other day ) and the whole top of my kneecap came off exposing a large hole full of disgusting matter and the stench was awful. Naturally I took a photo of it and made many a person feel sick with the pictures.Laughing Rolling Eyes

Is it a coincidence that the ad displayed when I viewed this post was for NHS wrist braces? Spooky.

That is how the adverts work, they scan the page and try to insert adverts related to the content.

well, plaster is finally off after 8 weeks, they left a big gap between the break tho so its still not joined up fully. another 4 weeks before i can do any heavy work
they also didnt think to book me in for physio (even tho after opp the one thing the were clear on was that id need it) so i now wont get an appointment for another 4-6 weeks, im left wondering now if im supposed to be forcing my wrist to bend  to get movement back in it its very stiff and the ligaments and tendons are rock solid  Rolling Eyes

Hi Daisy,

When I broke my wrist it took a couple of years to get 90% of movement back. I never got 100% back & that was plated & screwed & back to physical work after 3 weeks. Yours sounds more fragile, I'd take it easy, just keeping movement up to the limit but no forcing.

Beware of fat bints... still.
