Those annoying clips that always go missing for the door handles

Post by HighlyJetted on Tue Dec 03, 2013 6:44 pm

At last I have received a big bag of clips for the sliding door handles and window winders.

They are not the exact Daihatsu part, but I have tried them on my van and they work perfect.

They look like this:-

And fit like this:-

If you need some get in touch.

I'll sell them for 50p each and minimum of 4 at a time to make it worth my while going to the post office. Postage is 60p Royal mail 1st class.

I hope this will be useful to us all as I know it really annoys me when they ping off and after spending 10 minutes looking for it I tend to give up!!

Not sure you've thought this through, HJ - if one clip can spring several feet, imagine how far a whole bag could go! You'll never be able to find them when someone wants any Very Happy

Seriously though, that's a great addition to the Hijet parts availability scene.

How the F*** can they go so far?!!!!

They bounce that fast they form a worm hole and float into a different dimension.

There must be 10 buried in the gravel in my yard outside Mad

I must have lost a good 3 hours of my life on my hands and knees trying to find the damn things.

Also I have had some samples sent over from Taiwan of:-

Internal Sliding door handles.
Window winders
External Sliding door handles.

The window winders and internal sliding door handles are pretty damn good, they fit and look OK, and don't like they will break - although they are not as solid as the original Daihatsu ones.

The external sliding door handles on the other hand, they are the same one that dude sells on ebay for £20. I got one with a van I bought to break, still in the packaging with that dudes fitment guide. I took the part numbers off the label and found them on a Taiwan website Wink

They do not fit correctly at all, they are not for the S85 hijets, they are for the old 1980's ones. As such the plastic arm on the back fouls the body work, the metal arms locks against the paintwork jamming the handle, and the clip that holds the opener rod in place is totally the wrong size.

You can make them fit, by filing off some of the plastic on the back, and some of the metal arm, and use the clips from your old door handle. Today I have fitted one to my van to see how long it lasts. If I paid £20 for one of those handles and then put it on my van I would be very disappointed seeing as it took me a good 20 minutes of careful modification to make it work properly. A washer between the handle and door round each bolt saves the need to file the plastic but that was the only mod I needed to make and have fitted several. However, they don't last very long. I also thought they must be for earlier vans.

If you jack the handle up on the lugs, when you open the door by the handle you are creating a leverage effect on the metal lugs in the plastic, making it stress the plastic more so it's more likely to break.
