insurance time... again...

Post by elfin girl on Wed Dec 11, 2013 7:28 pm

so, its that time of year, ive been putting it off on account of me finding it a bloody irritating task that results in me being lighter on the purse and not getting what i want

the usual comparison sites were throwing up obscene quotes for little cover.
someone mentioned aviva so i thought id give them a go, first quote... wait for it, over £100 less and more cover, they will cover for other vehicles, excess is less, windscreen covered... then i thought id put my mum on as i need someone to drive me and the dogs to my sisters over christmas.... £20 less ...     albino   .... one happy bunny

A big problem with Aviva is that they don't like paying out !
My daughter had a prang-not her fault but they made her pay
out the £700 excess ( no idea why she agreed such a huge
amount in the first place) before authorising the repairs.
Despite the other driver fully admitted liability, Aviva have
tried every trick in the book to get out of paying back the
money. Eventually she got on to the insurance ombudsman,
and now, 9 months later has just got the money back, plus
£200 compensation.
I've heard of other people having the same problem with Aviva,
so I would advise being ready for trouble if you have an
accident.

all insurance companies are trouble, if its an accident thats not my fault i deal direct with the at faults insurance, they'll try and wriggle out of anything. but at the end of the day any sighn of trouble i get my solicitor strait on it (several non fault crashes experience under my belt here!)
main thing is being legal

As I've said before, I feel running an insurance company is basically legal fraud.

If 20% of their customers all claimed in the same year, they would have serious cash flow problems.

They gamble that only a small margin claim. And that't not always guaranteed for example floods/natural disasters.
