It's tempting to report it as a dodgy sale on ebay to save some novice a headache.

This van used to belong to Brendan, who used to turn up
on this forum a couple of years back. He called it the
'Starsky & Hutch van'.
He was into restoring classic cars, and knew what he was doing
with motors. He didn't have twin carbs on the 'jet when I was
friendly with him, but if he did fit them he would have done it
properly.

Its another Ex Fulham and Hammersmith council van I'd bet.

Mine was V478 KKJ - 8Bit-ash's is V325 KKJ Both being ex F&H council, both LPG.

This one is V462 KKJ

I wonder how many owners its had since being a Council runabout.

I remember seeing this on the Daihatsu drivers website a while back called 'Zebra 3' or some such like if I remember correctly. I always get a little worried when I see 'selling for a friend' or any variation on that!

" No Test Pilots Or Dummies " What a total Plonker. Twin Carb Weber ??? Even if it were possible to fit EFI would beat it hands down . Twin DCOE 40s would sound gorgeous and suck the Petrol Tank dry in Minutes .

Sorry Redneck but in my opinion your mate was talking a load of Cows Pooh . You cant modify the Alloy Inlet manifold to fit them and making a steel one would take a genius .
A downdraft Weber wouldnt give you the total choke area of the Fuel Injection even with something as big as a 40 DFA only had two 28 mil chokes.

Woody, I guess you mis-read my post. I said that when Brendan had
the van he did NOT have twin carbs on it but IF he did fit them, he
would have done a proper job.
I am sure the bodge-up that appears on the van is the work of
a later owner.

Humble appologies R.N. Definitely working far too many hours for an old Fart. Yes I did misconstrue your post .
Although the basis of what I said I believe still rings true. You couldnt modify the Alloy Inlet to take Twin Forties as you have the cold start warm up wots its name ( you can tell its getting late) the map sensor and other bits of electrical and vacuum litter on there to deal with.

And the same goes for making a steel one. We have some very talented people on this Forum and I take your word about your friends abilities .

I got mixed up with the twerp that put the advert on. How are you going to mount a Twin Choke Downdraught on the manifold and if you were clever enough to do so I would imagine the top of the carb would be halfway up through the drivers seat sucking in all sorts of unspeakable regalia.  `
