gob smacked

Post by rich1 on Mon Jun 30, 2014 8:48 pm

driving home the other night me little van went from nice and quiet to sounding like a funny car on a drag strip. culprit was a broken exhaust on the weld going into the back box. no prob,s I thought I,ll just drop it in to the local exhaust center and get it sorted. dropped it in told them what the problem was and they said leave it to them and they will sort it.an hour later I got a call they said it could do with a complete system ok I said how much would that cost the reply was £1000 lucky I was not eating at the time otherwise I would have choked. rang up another exhaust center they said the same price now me bum is pouting they reckon £250 for back box and £750 to £850 for the cat. so the welder is coming out tomorrow do you think I could lose the cat or would that cause problems. I have seen systems on fleabay for a reasonable price I,ll have to do some home work to make sure I bye the correct parts. I only paid £950 for the van so why the heck would they think I would pay a grand for an exhaust I could bye another van for that.

i didnt pass my mot because my cat was empty.
we replaced it with a cat from a charade then it was fine.

my double exhaust is from a charade to.
if its rougly the same diameter you could fit al sortst of exhaustst.
you just have to know somebody who can weld it all up for you..  Wink

cheers I,ll give regis a call i.m having look under the van today to see what I can do for the time being with the welder. I,m still waiting for the guy from the exhaust place to ring me up and to tell me he put one naught on to many. I did notice at a glance the pipe from the back box looks welded to the cat is this right...

You could get a custom made stainless steel system made up. I think it would be around £200-£300

This is the place to ask when it comes to Hijets!

What we as a group haven't covered is possibly not suitable for public discussion Wink
