Template for wheel arch

I just welded my arches. One was pretty shot but I made paper templates on the good side and just reversed the paper onto sheet metal for the other side.

Get cutting and folding mate! That's a pretty typical rear weld up job.

Done one that the whole arch needing doing front to back.

Start by cutting everything rotten away. Then you can see what you need to fabricate.

Just make sure this van is worth fixing - rotters tend to also need:-

Rear brake pipework replacing
Leaking Fuel Tanks
Coolant system issues
Rotten front arms
Rotten below the seat belt mounting point on the passenger side - every time.

When an overheating van turns up with its arches hanging out, I always warn the owner its going to cost wayyy more to fix than the van is actually worth.

Time consuming and awkward is probably the best description.

I did away with the under fold arch lip.

I welded past the under arch fold like Highlyjetted did. Its making the and shaping the metal replacements that takes the time. I found hammering over some steel pipe and then spot welding the ends worked well before welding all in place.

I made the inner arch in 5 sections and overlapped them rather than trying to make one piece. You can see the section marks on on the outside in the close up.
