Metal bars that hold the headliner

Post by andy pyke on Thu Nov 27, 2014 9:24 pm

My mpv came without a headliner. It looks like there should be some metal bars going across the roof on the interior as well. I haven't got them either. Im planning to just get some foam backed headlining material and stick it directly to the roof. Will it work and do I need those metal cross bars?

You don't need them to hold up a glued head lining Andy but they are there I think to stop panel drumming of the roof.

Should you decide to fit them I have plenty of them. I think everyone knows my number and email by now but just in case :

I like to think of them as roll over protection bars Smile

Very good Matt. I don't think that they would even protect a bread roll. I think they were made from Sardine tins.

I have found that people hang bits and pieces from them including speakers etc.

They always have loads of bits of string or cable ties left on them.

The bars are also good for hiding joins in the headlining if you don't want to or can't do it in one piece Wink .

That's helpful everybody, thanks. I don't have the board or bars so this week I shall be gluing some sort of material directly to the roof!

I've also been thinking of trying to do some sort of vinyl wrap on the roof but it looks like the difficult angles (and the cold wet weather) are going to make that impossible.

Anyone tried it?
