Brake fluid

Post by Sarahax on Fri Nov 28, 2014 11:54 am

OK really simple question. The warning light on the dashboard tells me (according to the manual) that my 2003 HiJet needs brake fluid. Off to Halfords to buy some - but where does it go?

Right hand side of the dash, wee panel pops off. If it's low it's not away with the fairies it's leaking and needs fixed asap.

Though if the fluid level is not low, removing and replacing the screw cap will probably extinguish the light - it's happened several times on various vans for me. If it is low, as Logi says, it needs sorting or you might end up somewhere worse then Halfords. affraid

Low brake fluid also can be a symptom of the pads/shoes wearing thin.

For your prompt replies. Problem solved. Found the brake fluid container - I checked and it's not leaking. Fluid up to the max level marked. Simply unscrewing and putting back the cap seems to have made the warning light go off - as PFM suggested. Thanks folks - your help is much appreciated,
