My 91 Datty

Post by sperlingaz on Tue Feb 09, 2016 5:06 am

Hiya People
To be honest I couldn't do without the Might NZ Jets
A few pics from the past and present
These guys live at the bottom of the South Island of New Zealand (near the south pole) been in my hands for the past 7 years

The 1st one I had which i drove into the ground, body eventually failed on me with too much rust - good engine thou - but just sits outside my garage as a storage shed for now... The earlier 1988 model

Replaced it with a barn find, found near Christchurch with only 50K on the clock, pretty tidy for a 1991

I like old school bmx bikes if you didn't guess.... and these babies have brought every single one I have found home for resto's

Just did the head gasket on the 1991 and having the dreaded burping - bleeding issues on the cooling system, still overheats but after spenting 3+ hours on this site, its fixed now and running beautifully - Great site Smile

PS. What I have found is that these vans have gone up and gained in price over the last few years
My 1st one was $1500 NZD, the 91 was $3000 NZD and this is listed on old trademe currently sitting at 5k +++ if you wanted to know, a crazy looking 4x4 Vanjet

Heres another cheaper bus at the mo - http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=1027148543
Thanks guys

Welcome, tidy looking vans. Not seen a deck-van in the UK, don't think they were imported here and we didn't get many 660cc jets in any form. How easy is it to get spares over there?

Great info from down under but think you need to reduce the size of your avatar pic though! Keep up the info

nice vans. The low roof models definitely look sharper but it's nice having that extra space on the high roof ones. That deck van is brilliant, but also found myself thinking it through and it just makes more sense to have the extra van space I'd have thought, seems to limit multi-use functionality more than add to it.
