Weenybago spruce up

Post by elfin girl on Mon Mar 28, 2016 5:17 pm

Think I put the other post about this in the wrong section, not sure how to delete it. But I'll start again here!

I thought I'd give painting the exterior a go, started on the back door with black gloss metal and rust protect paint.  the first coat was a potential disaster, I painted in the afternoon when the weather was lovely, then it drizzled a bit over night! But a bit of sanding and second coat went on ok, I used a foam roller on the first coat as that's what seems to be recommended method, however it wasn't particularly easy so I used a brush for the second coat and found it much better

The rear bumper needs a spruce up now, I have an idea for that but it will take a bit of time so will have to wait till consistently better weather

This week I have been reinstalling the cupboard, it used to be on the other side half way down which was not only in the way of putting the drivers seat back to access engine it would now be in the way of the bed. It needed a bit of adjustment to fit and I've now hung it on a copper pipe as before it was attached using the bolt holes for the grab handles

Not sure if you can see from the picture but there is a big gap at the back of the shelves i am cutting some new ones so my grub doesn't fall out!

Looking good, glad you decided to keep going with the van. Got the same cold air rush at feet as you but only passeger side. Only noticed when dog was sat down there and saw his fur being blown about! He didnt mind one bit but think wife will eventually say something!

That bit of copper pipe's going to leak quite bad. Surely not a standard lamp, so downlighter or coat-rack?

Well, I didn't realise that copper gas pipe was such shocking quality, this is going to take longer than anticipated as I now need to locate my jewelly copper to do what I want.
That particular project is pending
So I'll have to start on something else!

Best to get some OLD copper pipe from a rip-out at a refurbished old house to make your Sunflower from. Where are you going to put Bill and Ben.?

It's ok, I have an idea that will be better than the original, however it does mean waiting till I find the bits that I know I have stashed in my "I can make something out of that" collection, I refuse to go buy anything when I know I have it here somewhere.

In the mean time I've been ripping up paper and glueing it to the doors of the cupboard, now waiting for varnish to dry!

Got a bit carried away with the varnish, lost count of how many coats I've sprayed on.... So waiting for it to dry.. Again ... cyclops
pretty pleased with the results though, pictures to come when it's put back together later in the week

Here we go, I'd like to make a little bit of storage on the inside of the doors, that's another project though, and door handles or not?! I'm undecided maybe if I find something interesting to use I will put some on. For now it is fully functional and will fit plenty of food in for camping.

I think Woody meant related to Logi, as in not wishing to spend money unless it's dragged out of your wallet/purse with a JCB! Like the maps on the cupboard, you won't get lost now!

Ohh, ahhhhh!! Well, I can't spend money I havnt got, after the humongous vet bill end of last year I'm now looking forward to another one which will be not quite so shocking but somewhere between 3 and 8 hundred pounds, bargain!

So I get creative with everything else! I also have mountains of "stuff" I've collected over the years which I'm determined to make use of, which in the process will create me some space. I have a table that will be being dismantled next to make a cooking area in the van Smile

Decided I didn't like the lift up access to storage under the bed so I ripped off the wood on the side and made a curtain out of the pockets from old combat trousers, I do need to make a "ledge" now to hold the cushions in place when I'm driving.

And they are slowly filling up with tools!

Cooking area has been ditched for now as instead I had to make space for a dog buggy Embarassed
My little shi tzu can't go far with his disc disease and I can't be doing with carrying him so... Hmm, I'm now "one of them" people who have a dog in a pram!
I've also lost a bit of space at the back due to having to put a ramp in for the nearly 17 year old larger dog who hates being helped into the van, although to be fair I'm not sure how much longer he can last he is bloody old for a dog that size, must be the kelpie genes keeping him going

Haha! The austrailian kelpie... The other would be quite interesting but I'm positive he doesn't have any of those genes, he hates the water!

Decided to experiment a bit with the front passenger seat, I want it to fold down flat so I got out my little drill and used a cutting wheel on it to take off some of the metal
