Only trouble is Logi, a Motor Bike won't fit whole into the boot or back seat of a Mercedes or Jag - - not without ripping the leather seats and depositing oil and petrol everywhere.
Come on, use that braw Scottish logic of yours and sort the exhaust. Is it not weldable. I have had very few that I can't weld up. If I had one you know I would send you one, but at the moment couldnt anyway.
Damn Stroke. But lucky to still be here and firing on all four cylinders, but suffering Fuel Starvation so down on power - - rather a lot!! Embarassed

Brakes and Exhaust are consumables though, any 5 year plus vehicle needs that crap.

Not weldable, as my welder has packed in..... Mad

Totally pissed off with it at the mo, it's been one thing after another, spent more fixing this 27k mile van than I ever did on my old 134k miler
Trouble is I'm needing it as I've put the wee Yoyota off the road, insurance was due and I'm trying to spread the costs as well as needing the van to move loads of stuff for my new garage & yard. Can't use the Jag as 15mpg when doing 250+ miles a week would be scary, also the Merc is in the garage, and I need it finished for the end of the month but I keep having to fuck about fixing the van.

Merc Vito is on the horizon...

Cheaper to fix Sooty than buy a Vito surely. Mercedes-Benz spares are just as poisonous to buy as Hi-Jet as I would imagine you know. Jim in the Garage next to me had to replace the ABS unit on a Sprinter I think it was and it cost around £1,500. That ain't cheap motoring.

Sometimes it's better the Devil you know.......... Especially one with only 27,000 miles on the clock.

If you do want a vito, make sure you buy a very low mileage late model example, as they are prone to pouring money into them continously.

Common reasons why they end up in my place:-

Faulty ABS control units - internal pressure sensor fault - needs new unit. These are about £650 plus vat.
Instrument clusters going crazy - or not powering up. (seen this 3 times in 2 years - dodgy voltage reg)
Electronic Steering lock dieing - which I replace with genuine new one even though told it can't be done. (done 6 of them, same recovery drivers keep bringing AA/RAC customers car here) They are about £170 plus vat for the part plus a couple of hours labour.
Engine ECU not communicating on CAN network so won't start etc.
Radio causing battery drain.
Oh and the EIS (electronic ignition switch e.g. key receiver) they get water down the opening if the window is left open, this rots the bottom of the PCB, they are about £350 plus labour to replace.

Not really serious, just getting a wee bit pissed off with it lately, time is a finite resource just now, and spending it fixing the Sootyvan means that I'm not spending it finishing the new garage, fencing off the yard space, getting the Merc ready. And I'm away white water rafting this weekend so don't have time to catch up.

Well done. Motivation re-found then. Would be mad to sell Sooty. Just wish I had the energy now. I have got a couple of vans that need cleaning up and an Mot to ready for selling but obviously I can't.

One of our Forum members, Wendy who lives in Ryde has offered to help along with several other friends so I can get some jobs done. I have got 3 Grand Moves all needing Mot's in the next month so I need drivers. My very friendly Mot station Bonchurch Garage  in Ventnor will do any work needed. So I can make some gentle progress. Have got a couple more weeks to go before I can drive again ...... Hopefully.
I carried a bin of wood down from the shed yesterday afternoon for feeding the Woodburner and then felt rough for a couple of hours. Just finding out what I can and cannot do. Not much it would seem......  Except sleep. And browse on here.

Getting to be a serious post now, fuckin thing won't start at six thirty this morning.
Need to be in Glasgow before seven. Jag is in the lockup, a good quarter of an hour's walk away, Mercedes is even further. Toyota is off the road.
Wife's not too happy with me for waking her up to tell her I'm taking her car.

Getting seriously fucked off with the Sootyvan. Sad

Under the dash, behind the brake fluid reservoir on the door pillar are four Relays. Not sure which one though Logi.

The Relays are rather hard to get to Logi.  Ideally you could do with a 1/4 drive socket set with assorted extension bars to get at the one 10mm set bolt that holds the four Relay cluster on.

It is probably more helpful to take the instrument cluster out so you can see what you need to get at. Once you have the set bolt out, drop the whole assembly down below the dash so you can see what you are up against.

The black Relays have a white base with VERY FLIMSY clips either side.  It is a fiddly job to remove them using an Electrician's screwdriver to gently prise both the clips back and remove the relay at the same time. The slightest bit of impatience and the darn clips break.

If you get stuck for a relay,  the Engine Fan Relay is the same. Situated under the Passenger seat by the Water Filler Cap and held on once again with a 10mm set bolt. It is covered in a plastic sheath which peels back. If you do have to resort to that, you can bridge out the feed and supply terminals  with a loop of wire to get your Engine Fan going. It is ignition fed so would be on all the time the ignition is on.
I have got Relays in stock if you need me to send you one.

Ok, as I can't remember, does the fuel pump run on turning the ignition? I seem to be getting a click at the relays so guessing it's the pump? (or fuse?)

Just another thought. Although you can hear the click, it could be burnt contacts in the Relay causing lack of feed to the pump.
