Skylark hits the road

Post by Raggy on Mon May 09, 2016 12:16 pm

Well, eventually hit the road at the weekend on our first proper weekend away (I call it proper but we didn't camp, slummed it in a hotel Smile ). Went off to Whitby over the North Yorkshire Moors (over Flyingdales) and came home via Scarbrough on the Sunday. Little van went well once I sussed out when it was best point to change gear for the hills! Think I need another gear as 3rd was always a bit low and 4th always seemed to high! Anyway it went well, no issues at all. Couldn't be more pleased. A good test for the summer jaunt to Scotland. Wife now knows a few sayings that go with the van:

Turn on the aircon - Open your window
Turn off the aircon - Close your window
Its warm in here - I know I have the heating on full!
Push! - I missed when to change gear and running out of momentum!

Good stuff. I have fond memories of my first weekend out in my old Rascal van - we went to Yorkshire too - Pickering - and we visited Scarborough and had a walk along the cliffs. I left the petrol cap at a garage and had to buy a 'universal' one that didn't seem to stop the fumes getting out. Bet your looking forward to Scotland. I've had a few good trips up there.

Oh man my girlfriend hates me every time I fail to notice a speed bump and the Jet is launched into the hemisphere.

The vibration part would not be a problem were it not for her headache from flying into the roof...

I find if you hit them over 40mph you don't feel them very much.
