Newbie from Kent

Post by craig4586 on Tue Sep 20, 2016 8:22 pm

Hello

My names Craig and I am a owner of a 2002 1.3 petrol Daihatsu Hijet camper. I have had my camper since June and I have enjoyed it any weekend I can get possible to adventure out and about camping. I will upload some photos when I'm home next to show you all. I will more than likely be asking questions as I go along and buying some parts too but for now hi to you all.

Craig

Hello, I've been known to camp outside my cousins in Kent so if you see a green and black weenybago give us a wave!

Thank you to all for the welcome. I haven't uploaded photos to forums for a long time, can I do this from my phone?

So here is my first few questions. I want to change the front seats, would any of you recommend a pair of seats from other cars that will fit at all?

I am also looking into purchasing a diagnostic scanner for the future as I believe the Hijet's are known for the odd problem now and again. Would you recommend any and a possible link at all as I have looked on fleabay at the usual basic scanners but was not sure if these would work on the Hijet as most are for cars only. I'm probably worrying too much but I like to be prepared for the future Very Happy

Before you go out and buy an OBD2 Scanner make sure that you have the OBD Socket under the dash to the right of the Steering Column. The Diagnostic Socket was installed in 2002 I believe but depends when yours was made rather than when it was first registered obviously.

Thanks for the info guys. I have looked in my van and I do indeed have the OBD2 socket under the dash to the right of the steering column Very Happy I will search the forum now for the smart car seats.

I have tried uploading some photos of my little camper but because I haven't been a member for more than 7 days it's not letting me I'm afraid so I will upload these next week.

Always best to err on the side of caution. I have an Island reg 2001 and it doesn't have the OBD2 Socket which is annoying as it loses power going up a long hill and it would have been good to have the OBD2 facilities. All the post 2002 ones I have got, do have the socket.

As I said earlier, it could be dependent on how long a vehicle is hanging around at the dealership before it was sold then registered.

This is the Scanner I bought off Ebay a couple of years ago. I can't remember if it was £20 or £30.

I haven't used this one. I bought it and then mislaid it, so ended up buying another one. I rediscovered this one when I was bringing any spares and tools back from the Workshop after the Fire a few weeks ago.
And no, no point in selling it as obviously no warranty. Better off getting a brand spanking new one with a years warranty. Rolling Eyes
