Spotted - in Eastbourne

Post by PFM on Wed Nov 02, 2016 7:18 pm

I've seen it around a couple of times now, and saw it parked up yesterday. Smart T reg MPV in blue. Is it on holiday and enjoying our lovely southern weather sunny or does it live locally?

Hi PFM. You didn't mention whether it was a 993cc or a 1300. T reg 993cc is pretty rare, so presumably a 1300?

The above picture is of an Isle of Wight registered MPV taken in Ventnor last year. Oddly enough it was taken almost outside the very house I moved into in 1974 when we moved to the Island.

Correct Woodie, I didn't mention it as we have so few Hijets round here there's not likely to be a choice! Am pretty sure it's a 993 but I was looking more at the rear as I sped past it.

So how many different front bumper styles are there? The old 993 version as in my picture is my favourite. Then there is the ugly carbuncle I have now on my 2002 MPV and then the one in this picture seems to be another alternative.

I note its got that metal bar around the bottom like the old 993 did...

It is a 993cc Andy. They had the metal tube assembly under the bumper to protect the Radiator. Same reason the 1300 models have a skid plate assembly - although somewhat different to the 993cc to protect the Radiator.

The 993cc SE had a completely different bumper and side trims altogether. I had a full set but they went up in the Fire. I may still have some pictures of them on my PC. Will have a look.

Found them on my Pc. I have taken the pictures directly off the PC SCREEN as the Bluetooth wouldn't play ball.

Today I saw a very tidy white '53 plate van with alloy wheels and very non-original roofbars. Looked like a van converted into a camper or day-van. Anyone from here visiting this area?

Have you forgotten what a Hijet van looks like now? Actually, whilst I may have laughed at with you over your initial incompetance difficulties in posting pictures, I don't believe I have ever moaned at you for the lack of imagery. I could not take a picture of the van as I was driving, and when it pulled over to park I was unable to stop. Razz
