You can tell I am bored with being retired and incapacitated.

Post by Woodie on Sat Nov 19, 2016 8:59 am

Actually I am at last getting a bit more mobile now although the leg is still rather uncomfortable shall we say (rather than a usual Logi colloquialism - - It F*****G hurts), but what would we do without him on here to brighten our days up??

I have driven my Hi-Jet 5 times this week now but I find our Mazda 323 is much less painful on my clutch leg but the Hi-Jet much more fun to drive so it's a question of - NO PAIN - NO GAIN.

I have had a terrible nights sleep, not due to excessive clutch use, but a real stinker of a chesty cough.
So at 4am after getting up and making a cup of coffee, but of course that's not very conducive to getting back to sleep. Counting sheep isn't a good idea either as it was piddling down outside Rolling Eyes
so I logged on here and thought I would count how many of Leopard Pagans favourite subject I could find. ( For the unitiated, she started this Forum 6 years ago and one of her favourite Mastermind subjects is: One or None hit wonders).

So being utterly bored with lack of sleep and lack of ability to get to sleep I decided to count up the One or None Hit Wonders. 202!!
That's out of now 775 members is almost 25% of the Forum members that have been on here and asked one question, and many kindly members have taken time to help them out and that's the last we see of them without a Thank you or "by your leave".

So if you have joined us this year please give us some input about progress on your Hi-Jets, funny mishaps,like how you left the handbrake off and ran over the Mother in law with pictures {if you can work out the Dark Secrets of how to get a picture on here-- Magnus Magnusson is dead isn't he? }

Please don't leave it to the handful of regular members to keep this
Hi-Jet lifeline alive. Spend a few minutes of your time and give us some input PLEASE!!

Thanks for asking Lex. It is definitely a lot better now than 3 months ago. I had to go to my Doctor's beautiful house on Wednesday as they have some more jobs for me to do.

I did quite a bit of Carpentry and painting work for them back in the summer. I was talking to Margarita, my Doctor's wife and she said that Oomenn her husband, my Doctor had told her that my leg was very bad. So I showed her the pictures, start to present day and she said that it wasn't Cellulitis but Scepsis-Cellulitis. Blood poisoning as well as the Cellulitis infection.

She said that I could have lost my leg ( I was told that on the 6th day in Hospital) and that if it had spread beyond the Lymph-Node Glands in my groin then it would have been Goodnight Vienna.

So here is the evidence. Well, you did ask.!!

How is that possible?! Not even a scratch, looking like a baby's butt! You've been pretty lucky there. Normally the old ones don't make it, glad you did!

A "Tick" decided that I was good for a free lunch and repaid me with Scepcis-Cellulitis.
I ended up in Hospital for 8 days. It was touch and go on the sixth day whether I lost my lower leg.

Still giving me problems now. I had to go back to the Doctors on Monday and he has given me a change of medicine to combat the fluid retention in the leg each day. Not out of the woods yet. Not been a good year at all but I have still preserved my sense of humour.

Ouch, seeing that makes me realise I had quite a lucky escape, I just had a bullet rash for a few months that's faded to a barely visible purple splodge.

Please get it checked out. I left mine for over a month with very little visible signs of anything other than the red blotchyness under the skin. I did have dreadful fever every night with terrible sweating soaking the pillows and mattress.

It gradually subsidised after 3 weeks, but then a week later I got the classic Bullseye on the Friday morning and by Sunday dinner time was on my way to 8 days in Hospital. If I had waited 24 hours more, apparently then the infection could have got into the crucial organs, liver, kidney etc and been fatal. As it was I was I had a close escape but its not over by any means now. I have had two episodes of the very high fever since October the second one just five weeks ago. Straight back to the Doctors again and massive doses of Flucloaxacillin. The trouble is that it can re-occur at any time through an open cut, splits on your heel, or from Dog or Cat Saliva

Get it checked out if you have had a high fever recently. Just for peace of mind.

Thanks for your concern woodie, it was about 5-6 years ago now, I did end up in hospital with a kidney infection within a year, and have since gained the diagnossis of rhumatoid arthritis, I do get "fevers" however I have been calling them hot flushes, being of a certain age and knowing my mum started menopause quite early! Hard to know what is causing what though as I already had an autoimmune disease before the bite, which I do wonder if that may have been a help at the time, overactive immune system to the rescue !? I did see a GP at the time, they wernt particularly concerned and said "it could be cellulitis, take a few antibiotics"!! Although they did ask for permission to take a photgraph for a journal, and it's a real shame there is no record of the photo as I didn't know that the bullet rash was significant in Lyme disease. So no proof now, no medic is interested. And I'm not too unwell fortunately!

I'm glad to hear that you are relatively OK. At least you are reasonably well informed about this nasty infection.

I had never heard of it before but was aware of Lymes Disease. From what I have subsequently found out, Cellulitis is a worse thing to get as it can be far reaching into the organs of the body.
I hope that your " hot flushes" are to do with an early onset of the Menopause rather than Cellulitis or Lymes disease.
