Look what has turned up in my road.

Post by Woodie on Sun Jul 09, 2017 5:26 pm

Just came home and spotted this in my road. Took 3 pictures of it from my car. Then Raggy goaded me into going back to investigate. It turned out of course that I know him. He bought two Land Rovers off me. I had a series 3, 2600cc 6 cylinder with Hydraulic Cable Winch ex Southern Electricity Board and then bought an Ex Isle of Wight Fire Brigade series 3 2600 that I was selling a while later. He got it off Ebay and If I remember rightly there were 4 of them for sale. He hasn't got a clue about it. It is 4X4 and I think that it is a 660cc from memory. It has done just 11,340 kilometres in 23 years. But it is absolutely mint. He bought it to sell but if he can't move it on at the £4,000 he wants I have told him to give me a call. May be able to do a deal.

I certainly like the dash layout, bit more modern than ours.

Would have been like trying to put out a huge bonfire by pee -ing on it PFM. But would be a fun toy to have around especially for the winter with the four wheel drive.

The interior is lovely isn't it. Considering that it is almost 24 years old and you look at the styling of the front, the seating, the dash and the steering wheel, our van design took a big retrograde step backwards. Just a shame that it has an elastic band for an engine. If it was a 660 Turbo it would be much more fun. I'd certainly buy it if that were the case. Will have to find out more. Mind you I would have to hide it in my new store so the wife won't find out. She is already winge-ing about the near thousand pounds I have spent on the Mig Welder.

But how on earth do you go with a design like that, beyond its time, to the one we have Shocked

I reckon Scotia's "The Thinker" would be appropriate here too.
If the solid grille was replaced with a bright red "SE" grille, you could be excused for thinking that it is a bang up to date model. Look at the indicator units.
They have the same bulge on them as the clear units on a 1300. The whole interior is gorgeous down to the steering wheel, gear knob and centre console. Just doesn't make sense that the Western World weren't treated to the same standards.

They would have sold a whole lot more of them over here for a start. I can see me ending up buying this little beast before too long,. I would take all the  clutter off the back and put sides on it as it was originally intended. With the aluminium checker plate floor it would be a superb " Show Truck"  to earn prize money with.

I must go and have another look at it I think. Cool Laughing

Love that seat in the back! But I dont like that dash board at all. Cant see how anyone would prefere that over the straight old skool dash with the straight lines. With that dashboard and steering wheel i wouldnt have bought my van.

Reminds me personally of my old Corsa C while my actual one reminds me of my Vauxhall Senator A. fell in love with the archaic Steering wheel and dash of my hijet at first sight.

You cannot be serious man!! That dashboard layout, steering wheel and the whole interior is GORGEOUS. The boring rubbish that we get lumbered with in this country is terrible. When you look at the models there are in many other countries around the world, Britain is Daihatsu's Dumping Ground.

I have only sworn on this Forum once before but I am going to make another exception. The interior in the models we have is totally lacklustre boring crap in my opinion.

I'll second that, the dash looks way more modern than the old skool we're used to.
