Rear brake compensator valve

Post by Aij29 on Tue Jun 07, 2011 5:32 pm

Hi Guys

My hijet has failed Mot because the rear brakes don`t work Embarassed

The Mot man said he thinks its because the brake compensator valve is seized,

Are these repairable or will it require replacing?

Cheers

aparently some can be repaired but it does depend on how buggered it is someone was looking at taking it out and just fitting a T-piece for full power at all time, don't know if they have or who it was but ours is seiezed on full and unless it changes I'm not about to muck about with it.

I have`nt got any rear brakes
apart from handbrake Shocked (but if the plunger piece is stuck in should`nt that mean the brakes should be on full?)

I think so but it has been ages since I looked at ours, it does have a bleed valve so you can check the fluid is getting to it there and then at the left rear brake, you can get sludge in the system I had to change a rusty pipe for the MOT and just couldn't get the pressure up when pumping the pedal in the end I had to clamp the rear flexi and pump up the fronts and the line and hold the load on with the left hand rear open (I had snapped the one in the comp valve) and then release the clamp and it looked like mud coming out.

I'd guess first thing to ask is if it's all been bled thoroughly. I've been caught out in the past when I thought I'd bled it properly but there's still been air in there somewhere.

If the rear is on a separate circuit from the front then it could be the master cylinder, not sure how the circuits run. Are you sure that all the new parts are correct, and fitted correctly?
