The things we do for love...

Post by Little Black Van on Mon Apr 23, 2012 10:55 pm

Today has been a hell of a day looking after my Hijet, I replaced my diff gasket and my exhaust silencer, and ended up having a diff oil shower and a light dusting of rust and filth from my old exhaust. What tales of suffering and woe have you guys endured for your Hijets? Laughing

Can you do the head gasket without removing the engine?

Considering I've had my 1995 Hijet since it was 6 months old (is that approaching a record?), I'd have to say the worst was replacing a core plug in cold weather - when I wasn't sure the replacement (from an engine reconditioner) was the right size. Still love driving it though and hope to keep it going until it becomes a classic - and then keep it going!

Today i've been working on the Hijet braking system and the Audi braking system both the same age of vehicle. The Hijet was a manor chore but mainly a pleasure, the audi was a complete arse hole with pretty much everything seized rock solid.
