I'm fed up with it, and I'll always think it's going to break down again. I've got my eye on a Nissan Largo to convert Smile

I'll be putting a for sale sign in it at Santa Pod at the end of the month and then it'll do the rounds on the forums/Gumtree

Or

Must admit it's a mint wee van, and if we never had these problems I'd probably have more faith in it, I just want it gone before it gives me any more dramas

A word of warning:-

My pickup had all these symptoms.

I've stripped my engine down to build the 1.6 and nowhere had the head gasket failed.

Other vans appear that have had the head gasket done which continue to have the same fault.

Only fix what you can prove to be fucked, and a chemical block test will prove a head gasket failure for just £25.

6 hours (plus) labour is a bloody expensive experiment with little evidence. Easy to blame what you can't see.

You'll hate it more if you spend a load of money and don't fix it.

If your going to take anything apart, take the radiator off it and have it tested (normally about £20)

I think they're doing that first, the missus spoke to them and gave me a message back from them, I'm going in tomorrow to see them when I get home from work so I'll see what they say then.

Still getting sold though Laughing

I wish you all the best Steve, and if at any point I can help I'm more than happy too.

With most things in life it tends to be the simple little things that get overlooked. Its the bipolar "Bears and Bulls" human mentality and all of that.

Thanks mate

Really wish I got a good one, they seem fun cool wee vans with loads of potential. Been to see a Largo today and my missus loves them, driving position and lots more driver comforts, electric windows, pas and many more things make it a better option for us on our mad missions around the country. Smile

How much would this be worth when it's fixed? Passes MOT in May with no advisorys, fully camper converted, taxed till October 31st?

I see one's around the same year and outside condition go for about £750-£1000 so I reckon with the conversion it should be worth about £2000?

Now that is a tough question, not really down with the camper scene!

I keep hoping someone will turn up who's a proper camper geek, then they can write a load of stuff for the www.daihatsuhijet.co.uk site Wink Razz

Cough hint hint anyone?

Missus spoke to some mong in the garage who gave her the wrong information, so I phoned and spoke to the big man who was doing it.

It had a small leak (Which we fixed), and it looks like a previous owner has been filling it with rad weld shite, it's blocked things up etc and causing it to over heat. The garage cleared all the shite out (They said lots came out) flushed it all, had all the coolant pipes off and cleaned them all out, refitted properly, spent ages doing it too, bled it, drove it, seems fixed Smile Smile Smile

Anyone want to buy it?

It's going still, lost the love for it. The missus likes the Largos, feels safer, can strangely see more out of it. Only down side is it's a little bit more expensive to run.

I'd feel the same I think, two people camping out doing loads of miles, Hijet's not really the right tool for the job in my eyes.

True, it's not good for long journeys, we normally go to Scotland twice a year and that'll take us ages in the van Laughing

Had it out a test drive, been out about 2 hours, up to Brecon, around the countryside up there and back down and it's all sorted now Very Happy

Had someone randomly come over to look to buy it when we'd stopped at my mates house cheers
